Graduation of 70 assistants!
In cooperation with Grieg Foundation PfC have educated 70 new day care assistants! The graduates received a certificate from «Ministry of Gender and Social Affairs» at the ceremony.
They are now ready to take the new national exam for day care assistants that is under development. The day care sector is high on the agenda in Ethiopia, and all assistants will be offered jobs after graduation.
One of the obstacles to women’s participation in formal working life in Ethiopia is the lack of daycare facilities for the youngest children (0-4 years). Together with a number of partners, including other central Ethiopian authorities, PfC is carrying out a pilot project to establish a Montessori-inspired day care for 0-4-year-olds.
With this third batch, a total of 159 day care assistants have completed their education.
